Losing weight isn’t just about fitting into your favorite jeans — although that’s a big perk! Losing weight (and maintaining a healthy weight) is key to your overall physical and mental wellness. Being overweight can put you at risk for developing serious health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and even some cancers, according to the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases.
Here at Lady’s Care Center, Dr. Ladynez Espinal understands the importance of losing weight — but she also understands how difficult it can be to lose weight. We’re here to support your health goals, including weight loss.
In this guide, we’ll explore the benefits of weight loss as well as the variety of weight loss treatments and therapies we offer.
Do you need to lose weight?
Apart from feeling energized, fitting into your clothes better, and feeling confident, how do you know if you’re at a healthy weight? At Lady’s Care Center, we follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for determining overweight and obesity metrics. The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a scale that factors in your height and your weight. Your score determines if you are overweight or obese.
What your BMI means:
- Less than 18.5: underweight
- 18.5 to 25: normal
- Between 25.0 to 30: overweight
- 30.0 or higher: obese
It can be alarming to see your BMI, but know that medical weight loss can help you reach your goals.
Finding the right medical weight loss for you
Here at Lady’s Care Center, we offer a variety of medical weight loss options. Depending on your specific goals, we may suggest any of the following weight loss options:
1. Weight loss injections
We offer two types of weight loss injections: hCG injections and b-12 injections.
You might recognize this hormone if you’ve ever taken a pregnancy test. hCG is a hormone that is created during pregnancy, and it’s the hormone that pregnancy tests detect. However, hCG is also used (as an injection) to help curb hunger. These injections work best when paired with a low-calorie diet.
B-12 is a vitamin known for its ability to provide energy. B-12 injections — in combination with amino acids — can help you lose weight by providing you the energy you need to make it through your workouts.
2. Oral medication
Prescription weight loss medication can jumpstart your weight loss in two ways:
- Suppressing your appetite
- Increasing your metabolism
Oral medications aren’t intended for long-term use. Most are only approved for a period of 12 weeks. While you’re taking oral weight loss medication, you can learn other healthy habits that will carry you beyond. Eating well-balanced, nutrient-dense meals, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep are three healthy habits that can help you continue on with your weight loss.
Dietary supplements can help support your body during weight loss. We offer Keto Nutraceuticals, which are supplements that help your body use fat (instead of the typical glucose) for energy. Normally, your body burns glucose for energy, but these supplements help your body burn fat instead.
4. Food allergy testing
Yes, food allergies can contribute to sneaky weight gain, and unfortunately, about 20% of the global population have food sensitivities. If Dr. Espinal suspects that food allergies might be contributing to your weight gain, she may suggest a food allergy test first.
Some of the most common food intolerances include gluten, dairy, and eggs. Knowing the results of your food allergy test can help you eliminate the problem foods and create a new meal plan.
5. IV infusions
In addition to oral medications, injections, and supplements, you have a fourth option for getting nutrients delivered to your body: IV infusions. The Skinny Chick IV infusion is a metabolism-boosting, appetite-suppressing IV therapy designed to help supercharge your weight loss.
There are many contributing factors when it comes to weight gain, but a hormonal imbalance is a common culprit. If your hormones are out of balance, restoring them will be paramount to your success. We can test your hormone levels, and if needed, provide hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
Bonus: HRT doesn’t just address weight gain. HRT can combat other pesky symptoms of hormonal imbalance like night sweats, mood swings, and hot flashes.
