TEEN CARE
Treating with Care and Kindness. Lady's Care Center specializes in a teen’s first visit to the gynecologist. We take the time to gently guide your daughter through her first annual exam, explain the procedure and answer those important first questions. Dr. Espinal understands it is a vulnerable time and treats each young woman with special care and compassion. Lady's Care Center also offers the Gardasil® HPV Vaccination for teens to protect against the Human Papillomavirus which can result in cervical cancer and genital warts.

VAGINAL REJUVENATION AND RECONSTRUCTION (Labiaplasty and Vaginoplasty)
Vaginal rejuvenation is a term that encompasses both functional and cosmetic procedures of the labia majora, labia minora, perineum and vaginal canal. Vaginal rejuvenation is really a marketing term for vaginoplasty- which does cause surgical tightening or narrowing of the vaginal canal. This procedure strengthens the pelvic floor muscles which have been damaged and stretched by childbirth, trauma, and/or age. When the pelvic floor muscles lose their strength and tone and become too relaxed, it may decrease the sensation felt by both the man and the woman during sexual intercourse. Vaginoplasty usually enhances sexual satisfaction and pleasure for both partners.
The phrase vaginal rejuvenation also encompasses the terms labiaplasty, vulvoplasty, clitoral hood reduction and hymenoplasty. Labiaplasty refers to the trimming of excess tissue of the labia minora (aka the lips of the vagina). Some women are so bothered by the appearance of their labia minora, that this affects them psychologically and may interfere with their intimate relationships. Some women are too embarrassed to discuss this matter with friends, family or their partners. An enlarged labia minora may cause discomfort when wearing certain clothes or even during exercising.
Vulvoplasty refers to the reduction of excess or loose tissue of the labia majora.
Clitoral hood reduction refers to removal of the excess skin on the sides of the clitoris. This procedure does NOT mutilate the clitoris or affect the clitoral nerves since the clitoris itself is never touched. Women may choose this procedure because they feel their clitoris appears too large and bulky, which is usually due to genetics but may be caused by exposure to hormones such as testosterone.
Hymenoplasty refers to the reapproximation of the remnants of the hymenal ring. This procedure is performed to make the patient appear virginal again. This may be done for cultural, religious or social reasons.

HPV VACCINATION
In 2005, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimated that 20 million people in the United States have the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and that six million new cases occur every year. Of this number, it is estimated that 74% of the new cases occur in 15-24 year olds.
To help protect against cervical cancer and genital warts caused by HPV, Lady's Care Center offers the Gardasil® HPV Vaccination for girls and women between the ages of 9-26. The HPV Vaccination can protect against HPV virus 6, 11, 16 and 18. This vaccine consists of three injections given over a period of six months.

ABNORMAL PAP MANAGEMENT
There are many reasons why a pap smear may be read as abnormal. Dr. Espinal will discuss any abnormal pap smear result in person and discuss all the different follow up options. Options may include a repeat pap smear with or without HPV testing or a colposcopy. (see colposcopy). Dr. Espinal abides by the ASCCP guidelines. For more information, visit www.asccp.org

ULTRASOUND
Obstetric and pelvic ultrasounds are performed in the office by a certified ultrasound technician. The ultrasounds done by the technician are all read by a board certified radiologist.

WEIGHT LOSS MANAGEMENT
Dr. Espinal has a weight loss/wellness program to suit the needs of most overweight or obese individuals. Her regimen consists of oral and injectable medications. One of the regimens is the HCG diet.
